Scott Necklen
Deputy Chief Executive, Dad, Chocolate taste tester
“I value being a part of a greater good and value the sense that we will leave this world in a better place for future generations.”
Scott joined LGNZ in 2013 and is now the Deputy Chief Executive where his primary focus is to bolster and support council capability. He enjoys the long-term thinking involved in local government and resonates with applying a mokopuna lens to his work – leaving our communities in a better place for future generations to enjoy.
Scott's career journey spans various industries, from tourism and consulting to education. Before LGNZ, Scott's career took him to Shanghai, where he worked as a business consultant and to the UK working for the National Trust on a change management programme. He also did two stints as a stay-at-home Dad which he counts as the best and hardest job ever.
In his spare time Scott can be found shamelessly plugging his delicious vegan treats from family business Wonderland Chocolate and cheering on his twin boys at underwater hockey – although he concedes it’s not much of a spectator sport.
