Ranjani Ponnuchetty
Chief Advisor, political junkie, problem solver, pilates fan
“I really enjoy the fact that local government is full of challenges – what's life without a problem or two to solve right!”
Before joining LGNZ, Ranjani's career journey was a diverse one. She started by training in broadcast journalism. Over time, she transitioned into communications roles and eventually found herself working in the Beehive.
Her experience there was particularly influential, teaching her to question the status quo, navigate the political maze, and think strategically. Ranjani thrives on challenges, which is one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the local government space for her. She sees every obstacle as an opportunity to make a positive change, a perspective that keeps her engaged and motivated.
In her role at LGNZ, Ranjani is particularly proud of the work they've begun in the media space. She and her team consistently push the envelope to tell local government stories and take the braver route.
When she's not at work, reformer pilates is her go-to "me time" and stress reliever, giving her the balance she needs. She's also a strong supporter of the Royal New Zealand Ballet and her local theater, Mana Little Theatre. On weekends, she enjoys quality time with family and friends, along with the delightful task of entertaining her energetic two-year-old.
