Amanda Wells
Director Member Engagement, project-wrangler, endurance athlete
“Local government is fascinating because it’s so fundamental to everyone’s lives and really shapes communities, though the extent of this remains chronically underappreciated.”
Amanda Wells joined LGNZ in 2021, bringing with her a wealth of experience in communication and engagement and a love for membership organisations – this marks her third membership-based role.
Immediately prior to LGNZ, Amanda worked for Engineering New Zealand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, where she honed not just her communication skills but also her project management prowess. Her professional journey started with stints in journalism in both New Zealand and the UK. Drawing on that experience, she values the art of listening, asking questions, and uncovering layers beneath the surface.
In her role at LGNZ, Amanda aims to make a meaningful difference for members and the long-term goals of local government. She loves the challenge of providing more value with fewer resources, building strong relationships, and understanding what members need.
Outside of work, she’s not one to take it easy. She can be found living life in the fast lane as an ultra-endurance bikepacking racer.
